Pasifika Business Funding helps Crawford Joinery
We are Paul and Anna Crawford, owners and directors of Crawford Joinery Limited. We started our business 4 years ago after Paul had been working in the industry as an employee for 22 years.
Initially we were a one man show, with Paul doing all the work other than basic administrative tasks I actioned at home in the evenings. I had worked in administration in the education sector for 20 odd years. We really had no idea of what we were doing, but were determined to make it happen.
Four years on, I now work fulltime in the business administration and we have another 3 full time employees. We are also seeking to employ a full time experienced installer to further free Paul up to focus ON the business versus IN it.
Although we are predominantly a kitchen joinery business, we work on a large variety of cabinetry projects with everything from small renovations to complete new builds including sculleries, vanities, laundries and outdoor kitchens; insurance work; commercial fitouts and custom cabinetry like dog crates and built in bookcases and bars.
I applied for assistance from Yorke Stone last year via the Pasifika Business Funding after seeing their post in our local BNI chapter group. Nancy contacted me and made the whole application process so easy! Her warmth and enthusiasm was very much appreciated.. We were so excited to learn that our
application had been accepted.
Working with Dan has really changed our perspective on how we manage the business. We looked forward to our monthly meetings with anticipation and always left buzzing with new ideas to consider and plans to implement. Dan has helped us see not only the ‘bigger’ picture but also to believe we can achieve our goals.
It has been so important to us to have someone ‘on our side’ who is able to provide us with detailed information when we need it, but also picks up on when we understand what he is telling us and cheerfully moves on to something else rather than following a rigid step-by-step regime.
It also relieved a lot of pressure at home as we gained the knowledge to make plans begin to understand that we were in fact doing really well! We were so happy with the time we spent with Yorke Stone during the Pasifika Business mentoring that we now still meet with Dan bi-monthly to check that we are still on track, bounce new ideas around and make plans for the near and further afield future.
